Finished Blueberry Lip Scrub
We are going to start out the day by making a Fresh Blueberry Lip Scrub. After making that delicious Fresh Blueberry Lip Balm I want to try the Blueberry Flavor Oil in a lip scrub. I think that often people underestimate a lip scrub. They are awesome! I always use a lip scrub when I am recovering from chapped lips. It’s very helpful in getting all the dead skin off my lips and leaves them feeling extra smooth. Plus, we have included Vitamin E Natural in this recipe which is super good for your skin!
This is the first time I have ever made a lip scrub so I am definitely inexperienced as a maker. On my first batch I melted the Mango Butter and Sunflower Oil together. Then I added my flavor oil, lip color, Vitamin E Natural, and the sugar. Once I got the finished product in the jar and it was set up I realized this product was way too hard and was near impossible to scoop out of the jar. I turned to my more experienced co-workers and said, “HELP!”

Weighing all ingredients except color and flavor oil
Tina advised me to try treating this recipe like an actual food recipe, I needed to cream my butter and sugar together. On my second time at it I weighed everything but the flavor and lip color into a chopper/grinder attachment for an immersion blender. I then blended until all the ingredients were completely mixed, then I added the Blueberry Flavor Oil and Blue Lip Color and again, blended until it was fully mixed.
Once it was finished I almost jumped for joy! IT WORKED! After using the chopper/grinder attachment I found that the lip scrub was nice and fluffy instead of being so condensed like it was the first time around. I am so excited that this lip scrub turned out okay because I love the flavor and I love the way it makes my lips feel.

Ingredients mixed together using immersion blender
I love to share this type of story with everyone because I want you to realize that you’re not the only one who makes mistakes. Yes, it sucks, but we all do it. So don’t be too hard on yourself!
| Ingredients Sugar Mango Butter Sunflower Oil Blueberry Flavor Oil Blue Balm Lip Color |
Equipment Scale Immersion Blender Chopper/Grinder Attachment Spoons Pipettes |
Recipe:
| Recipe in Grams 65 grams Sugar 20 grams Mango Butter 11 grams Sunflower Oil 3.75 grams Blueberry Flavor Oil Q.S. Blue Lip Balm color |
Recipe in Ounces 2.29 ounces Sugar 0.71 ounces Mango Butter 0.39 ounces Sunflower Oil 0.13 ounces Blueberry Flavor Oil Q.S. Blue Lip Balm color |
Recipe in Percentages 65% Sugar 20% Mango Butter 11% Sunflower Oil 3.75% Blueberry Flavor Oil Q.S. Blue Lip Balm color |
Q.S. in this recipe stands for quantity sufficient. With all of our lip balm colors a little bit goes a long way! For this recipe I dipped the end of a toothpick into the lip balm color then stirred it around in my lip scrub. It turned out a beautiful blue color, like I said a little goes a long way.
To make this recipe you simply need to weigh together all of your ingredients and use either a food processor or immersion blender with a chopper/grinder attachment. Scoop into jars of your choice. Cap, label and enjoy!
