Fluffy Lip Scrub for Chocoholics 6

I’m not sure about you, but I’m definitely suffering from chapped lips this winter. (Is this where I ask myself, “Andee, where do you work?”) I decided that I wanted to make a Fluffy Lip Scrub that would be fun to make and to use! Since chocolate has been noted to help lower blood pressure and increase the serotonin levels, I decided that I wanted to make a chocolate lip scrub that would at least taste perfectly chocolaty as well as bring a smile to my face.

The inspiration for this scrub was actually some teasing that happened over the weekend. My dad was teasing me that I have a chocolate meter and when I’m running low on chocolate, my mood will be on the cranky side. He reminded me that when I was on the swim team, he would pick me up after Saturday practice and I would be so cranky that it was difficult to deal with me for the rest of the day. After practice one day he had to stop at the grocery store for some lunch items. As we were walking through the dairy section of the store, I saw some shelf stable chocolate milk in a quart size from a local dairy processing plant, Gossner Foods. After we left the grocery store, I drained the carton of chocolate milk in less than 5 minutes. Naturally I was chipper for the rest of the day. Ever since that event, if I’m crabby at all, my dad will tell me that I’m “a quart low!”

If you would like to try the shelf stable milk, I will send one in your order. Don’t miss out on this fun offer as it is only available through March 31st. Write in the comments field, “I want chocolate milk.”

Now back to our regularly scheduled program, I hope you enjoy this yummy lip scrub just as much as I do!

Recipe in ounces: (Makes approximately 5 ounces)
4.5 ounces Sugar
0.7 ounces Shea Butter
0.5 ounces Kukui Oil
0.15 ounces Cocoa Butter, Regular
0.15 ounces Baking Chocolate
0.2 ounces Vitamin E Acetate
0.08 – 0.16 ounces Chocolate Cream Flavor
Recipe in grams: (Makes 200 grams)
127.5 grams Sugar
19.8 grams grams Shea Butter
14.2 grams Kukui Oil
4.2 grams Cocoa Butter, Regular
4.2 grams Baking Chocolate
5.7 grams Vitamin E Acetate
2.3 – 4.5 grams Chocolate Cream Flavor
Recipe in Percentages:
71% Sugar
11% Shea Butter
7.8% Kukui Oil
2.3% Cocoa Butter, Regular
2.3% Baking Chocolate
3.2% Vitamin E Acetate
2.4% Chocolate Cream Flavor

Weigh the Cocoa Butter and Baking Chocolate into a microwave safe container. Microwave using short bursts of time until both are completely melted. Weigh the rest of the ingredients into the food processor bowl. Gently pulse the ingredients together until thoroughly mixed. Once the scrub is mixed together, fill the jars and cap.

Yield: This recipe will fill 15 of the 10mL Lip Balm Jars.

Notes:
If you want to make a small batch, you can easily use a small personal blender like I did for these photos. I used a Magic Bullet, but I added the flavor after I had removed the scrub from the container. I don’t want to have my savory dishes tasting like chocolate!

How do I use this?:
I’ve been asked over the phone about how I use a lip scrub, so here is how I use a lip scrub. Scoop a pea sized amount out of the jar. Using your finger, rub the scrub over your lips. Don’t scrub too much, or you can irritate your lips. Now you can either wipe your lips off, or lick them! Apply a lip balm and now you have pampered your lips!

This lip scrub is very chocolaty and a perfectly sweet way to exfoliate your lips. I hope you enjoy this scrub as much as I do!

Enjoy!

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

You absolutely amaze me with your ideas. But my question is: what is a lip scrub anyway? You just rub it on your lips and wash it off?

Awhhhh, you really got me big time, Andee, with this recipe! Did you use unrefined Shea or refined and was it the high melt? Before I place my order with you guys, I need to know so I don’t make a mistake and order the wrong stuff!!

    Thanks!

Simona, How about we get Andee to make brownies again? She should just bake when she is “a quart low.”

    ROFL!
