Superfruit Lip Scrub 4

Do you remember the Fluffy Lip Scrub that I made back in March of 2009? Recently I wanted to make another lip scrub to help solve my winter chapped lips. The Pomegranate Flavor was the inspiration for this lip scrub because I have been impatiently waiting for a chance to make something fun with it.

I decided that I wanted to redo the Fluffy Lip Scrub and since pomegranates are considered a super fruit, I would make a Superfruit Lip Scrub. I started looking over a list of commonly mentioned superfruits and I was excited to discover an inspiring list of fruits. Even though all fruits are excellent sources of nutrition, superfruits are marketed by their novelty and appeal to customers. What ever the reasons are for marketing, I’ve created a fun lip scrub that emphasizes on those special fruits. Here is the list of ingredients and the reasons for choosing them.

Blueberry Butter: I chose the Blueberry Butter because blueberries are a well known superfruit and yet very rare to us in Utah. (They do not grow well in our soil.)
Acai Butter: I’ve found myself munching on Acai candies and wondering how I could use the Acai Butter again. Since it is a superfruit, I thought that this would make a lovely contribution to a lip scrub.
Mango Butter: I had only considered mangoes to be a tropical fruit, but I was quite surprised to discover that mangoes are considered to be a superfruit as well. I added this to the lip scrub because it adds a great buttery feel and prevents the Blueberry and Acai Butters from making a grey scrub.
Cranberry Seed Oil: I know that Thanksgiving is over, but I love cranberries year round. This Cranberry Seed Oil is perfect for the fatty acids that provide amazing skin moisturizing properties.
Red Raspberry Seed Oil: Raspberries are also a superfruit and they are excellent source of antioxidants, Vitamin C and other good nutrients. Red Raspberry Seed Oil has a high content of naturally occuring tocopherols and essential fatty acids that are good for the skin.
Squalane: I chose the Squalane to help moisturize the skin without adding a severe greasy feeling.
Sesame Oil: Who wouldn’t want to use sesame oil? I did because it is so rich with nutrients that are needed for our lips.

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!
