Sweet Coconut Lip Balm

After staring at a jar of the Virgin Coconut Oil that has been sitting on my desk for the past 2 weeks, I finally found a fantastic use for this yummy smelling oil. Lip Balm! This recipe that I formulated stays on the lips and gives a nice smooth glossy feel without being too greasy. The light and sweet coconut flavor of this lip balm will entice anyone who wants a lightly flavored lip balm.

2.42 ounces Beeswax
2.82 ounces Castor Oil
0.50 ounces Lanolin
1.51 ounces Virgin Coconut Oil
0.30 ounces Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil
Recipe in grams for 50 tubes
79.8 grams Soy Butter
68.4 grams Beeswax
79.8 grams Castor Oil
14.3 grams Lanolin
42.8 grams Virgin Coconut Oil
8.5 grams Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil
Recipe in Percentages
28% Soy Butter
24% Beeswax
28% Castor Oil
5% Lanolin
15% Virgin Coconut Oil

To be added after:
3% Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil

Weigh all ingredients except the Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil into your microwave safe container. Microwave in short bursts until all ingredients are melted. The beeswax will take the most time to melt, but if you stir the lip balm after the other oils have been heated, it will melt quickly. Once the mixture is melted, add the Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil . Stir until all of the flavor has been incorporated. Fill tubes or jars. Cool. Label.

Notes: If you want a stronger coconut flavored lip balm, add Coconut Flavor instead of the Sugar Kisses Flavor.

How would you personalize this lip balm for you?

Since we have had several questions about our Vanilla Oleoresin, tomorrow we will make cold process soap to test the soapability (Is that a word?) of the Vanilla Oleoresin. Check back in tomorrow for more details!

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!
