I love making body care gifts for friends and family – the recipients are always so impressed! But I am terrible at planning ahead. Inevitably, I decide about mid-November that I will make lip balms or body scrubs or soap for Christmas gifts. Or I get myself overbooked with life and don’t have time to spend an entire day gathering ingredients and containers, looking up recipes, realizing I don’t have enough ink in my printer to do labels, and just plain running out of time.
Tada! Gift Kits! I’m so glad MMS has a solution for people like me.
What do you want to make? Body cream, body milk, shampoo, deep conditioner, glycerin scrub, lip balm (choose between lanolin, mango butter, and shea butter). Various flavors and scents are available for each kit, and you literally get everything you will need – including LABELS!
Today I gave the Shea Lip Solutions Gift Kit a try. It took me less than 30 minutes to make 10 jars of Cucumber Melon Lip Balm. It would not have taken much longer to fill all 30 jars included with the kit. Aren’t these labels cute as can be?!
By the time I had put away the unused jars, lids, measuring pipettes, and labels, the balm was set. Talk about quick and easy! People are going to love me in the coming few days as I go about bestowing surprise gifts. What a lovely way to brighten someone’s day, and it took me less time than it takes to fix dinner – and there was considerably less mess when I was finished!
I also thought of how handy a Gift Kit would be for a class or group crafting event. Every December, I am asked to teach a make-it-and-take-it class for a local homeschool group. It can be a challenge to come up with a good project, as the participants range in age from kindergarten to 12th grade. Any of the Gift Kits would make a brilliant foundation for the class. To mix things up, you could have more than one scent or flavor, and maybe some colorant to allow each person a chance to make it their own.
Great idea. Maybe I’ll try that in the future.
Ruth, you totally should give it a try. Your daughters and granddaughters would have a great time making gifts! ~Denise
Good to see you and your blog about kits. I will be following you friend.
Thank you Doris. You always make me smile! 🙂 ~Denise
