Salt rescues the Sugar!

We were asked about a sugar scrub base that was having a bit of issues. The Glycerin Scrub Base was enjoying the sugar that was finer than expected and the sugar dissolved very quickly causing a separation problem. I’ve noticed a difference in the sugar I buy in the last 30 years. It has changed!

Let me show you the photo because so much is said in this one capture.

All it takes to fix a sugar scrub is a little salt!

All it takes to fix a sugar scrub is a little salt!

As you can see the left most scrub is having some issues. The center scrub has a teaspoon of salt added to the mixture and the jar on the far right has 1 tablespoon of salt added. Drastic improvement with a little salt.

Cheers!

About Tina

I started thesage.com in 1996 with the help of my husband. Now I get to help people make all kinds of soaps and bath and body products. I think my favorite things to make are lip balms and lotions/creams. Of course I get most of the soap technical support questions because that is my strong knowledge area. Glad this blog is here!
