The gorgeous goodie bags that are being picked up at our table!

Taylor and I have been having a blast at the Handmade Soap & Cosmetic Guild Conference this week. We’ve been giving away a little goodie bag to everyone who stops at our booth that features Katy’s Blueberry Lip Balm and a massage bar. This massage bar has been getting TONS of rave reviews and I had to share the recipe with you again. Taylor originally shared this recipe on January 11th and this simple recipe is truly amazing! With no further ado, here is her complete post!

There is great serenity in taking a moment for yourself. Whether it is in the morning, evening or sometime in the day, taking time to practice self care really helps with your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Today I wanted to make some massage bars for everyone who needs that moment. Come join me!

Weighing

Weighing Castor Oil, Cyclomethicone and Dimethicone

I really like this massage bar because it glides on smoothly without feeling greasy or heavy. After running the bar up and down my arm several times, I was pleased with how velvety my skin feels. It feels dewy and fresh! In fact, I almost can’t believe I just applied a massage bar. It is deceptively light. I am in love!

Heating Mixture

Heating Mixture

If you are familiar with making lip balms and other salves, you know that there is a point that the mixture will become crystal clear. DO NOT expect that from this mixture. This recipe can be 160°F and it will still be cloudy, even though everything is melted.

I recommend using your trusty thermometer for this project to prevent super-heating it. Stir the mixture well. Keep an eye out for anything that has not melted yet. If you see anything, keep stirring. The heat and the mild agitation with help your oils and waxes melt.

Fill the mini deodorant tubes and allow to cool. Cap, label and enjoy!

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

      Elsa,

The Cyclomethicone allows the bar to apply smoothly without feeling greasy or heavy. The Dimethicone also helps with the smooth application but it also imparts a velvety feel to the skin.

We used Conditioning Emulsifier for this recipe because we wanted the skin to feel extra soft and velvety. While you can do this with our regular Emulsifying Wax, it feels very different. I prefer using the Conditioning Emulsifier.

      Cheers!

I think I just got one of these as the sample in my order. My initial reaction to the massage bar (Crocus) in the bag? “Oh no, it’s cute!” I have no use (at the moment) for the mini deodorant tubes, but “Oh no, they’re cute, WANT!!” 😀 Everything in the bag was so pretty.
