The Grand Return of Organic Rosehip Oil!

Finished Rosehip Lotion

Finished Rosehip Lotion

I am so thrilled that Organic Rosehip Oil is  back in stock! Our Organic Rosehip Oil is absolutely exquisite and it is one of my favorite oils to use. It is actually what takes center stage in the Amazing Lost and Found Salve. This salve is one of my mother’s favorites. She applies it on her heels, elbows, arms and legs. Today I wanted to celebrate the return of the Organic Rosehip and make a lighter lotion that can be used as a facial lotion and a body lotion. Come join me!

I really wanted this lotion to pamper and soothe the skin. To do that, I actually kept things pretty simple but I added lots of goodies in the form of extracts and other additives. This particular recipe features Jewelweed Extract, Orchid Extract AND Calendula Extract! Wow! I did not hold back for this particular recipe.

I also used Allantoin and Aloe Powder. Allantoin can act as a skin protectant while encouraging new cell growth. This is really good if you have any sun or wind damaged skin. The down side to allantoin is that if you use a lot, it can make your lotion gritty. My recommendation is to keep the usage rate low so you still enjoy using your lotion.

I did add a fragrance to this lotion, but if your skin is particularly stressed or angry, I would omit any fragrance or essential oils and leave the lotion as is. I think you will be pleased with how calming and gentle this lotion is on the skin.

Weighing Water

Weighing Water

Weigh everything except the Liquid Germall Plus and Joyride Fragrance Oil into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until everything is liquid. Using an immersion blender, mix until emulsified. Allow to cool. Mix every so often during cooling to make sure it doesn’t separate. We will want the mixture to be cooler than 120ºF before we add our preservative. Mix well. Put the lotion into bottles or jars. Enjoy!
