I love spring time. There is something about watching the snow slowly melt and see blades of green make their way out of the landscape that is rejuvenating to the soul. Today I wanted to make a perfume stick that is the epitome of spring and rejuvenation. Come join me!
Ingredients Soy Lip Solution Beeswax Green Tea & Cucumber Fragrance Oil |
Equipment Scale Microwave Safe Container Spoons Pipettes Mini Deodorant Tubes |
Recipe:
Recipe in Grams 311 grams Soy Lip Solution 28 grams Beeswax 3 grams Green Tea & Cucumber Fragrance Oil |
Recipe in Ounces 11 oz Soy Lip Solution 1 oz Beeswax 0.12 oz Green Tea & Cucumber Fragrance Oil |
Recipe in Percentages 91% Soy Lip Solution 8% Beeswax 1% Green Tea & Cucumber Fragrance Oil |
Weigh all of the ingredients except for the Green Tea & Cucumber Fragrance Oil and the Blue Lip Balm Color into a microwave safe container. Heat in 30 second increments until everything has melted. If the beeswax is being stubborn, remove the mixture from the microwave and stir well. This often will allow the beeswax to melt from the heat of the other oils. Once the oils have completely melted, add the Green Tea & Cucumber Fragrance Oil and the Blue Lip Balm Color. Stir well.
Once the mixture is fully mixed, pipette it into the mini deodorant tubes. Allow the material to cool and cap the tubes. Now you can give your lip balm a pretty label or put it into a cute bag. Enjoy this great fabulous spring time perfume or give as gifts!
Spring Green Perfume Stick,
Great idea for using Mini Deodorant tubes.
Thanks! Those containers are just too cute and I know that no one will mistakenly put the perfume on their lips.
Do you prefer the white or black tubes? I still can’t decide.
Um, I’ve used Lip Solutions several times and the weight has always been 284 grams/10 ounces so I hafta ask if you’re sure 311 grams/11 ounces is correct?
Questions:
How much of the blue lip color did you add?
Is the extra beeswax necessary or can this be made without it and still work in those darling little deodorant tubes?
Lotus is one of my favorite fragrances — I plan on trying that.
THANKS!
Cee,
You can use any amount you have on hand. The blog entry was worked with 11 ounces of Lip Solutions which was taken from a pail of left over material from a production run. If you prefer, you can use the percentages along the right side and use any amount of Lip Solutions you have on hand.
The amount of blue color is a tiny amount on the end of a toothpick. It is tiny!
The extra beeswax is necessary because you are going to add a lot of fragrance which breaks down the stiffness of any lip balm. Taylor has the formulation correct, this is one of those times that you need to go forward with full trust and faith that we actually made the product before releasing the blog.
Lotus is a good one. I would like a perfume stick with that one. Or Osmanthus. Or Polynesian Red. Oh! Too many to choose from!
Tina
Ah ha! Thanks Tina. I suspected that maybe the amount came out of a bulk source instead of the jar. I’m out of Lotus at the moment but I have Osmanthus too! Good suggestion. I didn’t realize those small tubes came in black… sexy! I’m heading over to have a look.
how many of these does this recipe make? thank you!
This recipe made 28 of the mini deodorant tubes. Each of those tubes holds 0.41 ounces. If you make the recipe by percentage you can adjust to make as many, or as few, tubes as you desire. If you struggle with working the percentages formulation then pop back in and let us know so we can show you how to work the math.
Cheers!
