Two days ago I told you about my lost recipe. I am so glad I found it but before I found that recipe, I tried desperately to recreate it from my memory. It was a great memory exercise and while I got impressively close, I still ended up with a very different product.

I wanted to share today’s recipe because it is amazing in its own right. Today’s recipe is perfect as a daily hand salve, cuticle cream and it even makes a spectacular body butter. Oo-la-la!

I am ultra happy with this recipe. I used a little on a scrape that I have on my arm. The skin is able to move and flex rather than breaking open on me. Yay! I plan on keeping a jar in my purse for the duration of winter!

Weigh everything into a microwave safe container. I find measuring out lanolin can be just a tad bit difficult. To simplify matters, I stick the jar into the microwave and heat the lanolin until it is liquid. This way it is easier to measure out and clean up. Heat gently until everything is liquid. Stir the mixture well. Pour the salve into jars and allow to cool.

This salve takes a while to cool. It may alarm you when it seems like the salve stays liquid for a long time. This is normal for this recipe. Just allow the mixture to cool undisturbed. I find it is easiest to pour the salve into jars then walk away for a while. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Once the salve has cooled, cap and label. Enjoy!
