Okay, okay! So this lotion isn’t radioactive nor is it hazardous but it certainly looks like it could be! So how did this lotion come about? Let me share the story with you before we get to the recipe.

Cooled Lotion on Finger

My coworkers adore Halloween and all things spooky. They have even arranged to decorate the office this year. For me, who loves all things pink, sparkly and princess related, this can be pretty tough. So when my coworker’s six year old son was expressing his disappointment over that lack of “boy” products we had arranged for our crafting party, I was ready for a challenge. I don’t do spooky but I can do weird!

Setting aside my love for pink and glitter, I set out to search for a cool, boy approved lotion. When searching through the archives, I came across my lotion using turmeric infused Coconut Oil Fractions. It was perfect! I can’t wait to knock the socks off a certain six year old boy. He will love it!

Now there is more to this lotion than its outrageous color. It is very creamy and silky feeling. This lotion is fairly fluid and relatively light.  It rubs into the skin quickly while letting the skin feel soft and moisturized.

Note: If you apply this lotion heavily, it may impart a light amount of color to the skin. It will not stain the skin. It may stain clothing but should be able to be removed easily. Also be aware that this color is not UV stable. If you leave it where there is natural light, the lotion will lighten over time.

Heated Oils and Water

Before you get started on your lotion, you will need to create your turmeric infused Fractionated Coconut Oil. Check out this blog post to see how we did it! Weigh everything except the preservative into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until everything is liquid. Using an immersion blender, mix the solution well. Allow it to cool to below 120° F before adding the Liquid Germall Plus. Stir well. You want to make sure that the preservative is mixed into the lotion completely.

Scoop the lotion into a bag so you can pipe it into your jars. I find that using a bag saves me time, reduces clean up and prevents wasted product. Particularly when working with a lotion that is fluid like this one. Bags are a huge help! I highly recommend them.

Cap and label the jars of cooled lotion. Enjoy! And if you gain any super powers in the mean time, I want to know!
