I may not be the resident scrub addict, but I do enjoy the occasional scrub for my own personal pampering. Since my shower is *gasp* dreadfully bare of any fun products, I decided to remedy the problem with this fast and simple scrub that is perfect for gifts or personal use.
This scrub is wonderful because it isn’t excessively oily, and it feels sinfully luxurious! This scrub is a fabulous body scrub due to the fine grains of the white sugar. If you want to take the recipe and change it to a foot scrub, I would recommend using the Medium Bath Salt or Coarse Dead Sea Salt in combination with the sugar.

Carefully weigh the liquid ingredients together. Add the Moroccan Red Clay and Walnut Shell Powder to the liquid ingredients and mix together. This will allow the clay to completely mix and prevent any clumps of clay. Add the sugar and mix well. Once the scrub is completely mixed, it will be smooth and easy to transfer to your desired containers.
Why did I choose the ingredients that I used? Let’s talk about them and why I picked these ingredients!
White Granulated Sugar: I like the texture of plain table sugar in scrubs. I think it is perfect for a scrub that would be a gentle whole body scrub.
Red Moroccan Clay: Clays are used in masks and soaps for their silky feel and absorption properties. Since the scrub is all about pampering the body and having gentle exfoliation, I wanted to have clay to protect the skin from being scrubbed too hard. I chose the Red Moroccan Clay in particular for its color.
Avocado Oil: This is one of my favorite oils. It is the one oil that I’ve found to be liked by people of many skin types. If you want to use other oils, I would recommend using Squalane, Golden Jojoba, Sunflower Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, or Grapeseed Oil instead. If you have another favorite, feel free to use it!
Walnut Shell Powder: I wanted a little extra scrubbing power, so I added a small amount of Walnut Shell Powder. The low usage rate prevents it from being too harsh on the skin and still allows it to aid any scrubbing.
LiquaPar Oil: The best preservative for simple scrubs is LiquaPar Oil. As you never know what will happen to a product after it leaves your hands, a preservative is always important. If you would like to make a new batch for a single use serving, then you can eliminate the preservative.
Note: If you want to use a mixture of salt and sugar for a foot scrub, divide the sugar in half and use 33.5% sugar and 33.5% salt instead.
I hope I’ve inspired you to try a scrub! If you don’t have all of these ingredients in your cupboard, let’s formulate something just for you.
