Waiting for Finished Lip Balm to cool

Valentine’s Day is next month and I am so not ready. Valentine’s is when my friends, gals and guys alike, ask for help making personalized products for their special someone. The problem is my thoughts are scattered! Come join me as I settle my thoughts so we can create the perfect gift baskets together!

I wanted to start with things for the gals and the first product I wanted to make is lip balm. Why lip balm you ask? Lip balms are great because they help create soft, kissable lips and give a soft, gorgeous shine. Heads up guys! By the end of this week, you can give a gift that will make her swoon.

The lip balm is perfect. It has a fun, flirty flavor, superb texture and amazing shine. You must try it. If you hurry, you might get one in your next order. I am sending over 200 samples to the shipping department!

I also wanted a hint of color in this lip balm and none on the lips. No color on their collars!

Weighing Oils

Weighing Oils

Weigh everything except the Vitamin E Acetate, Blackberry Pomegranate Flavor Oil and Ruby Lip Balm Color into a microwave safe container. Heat in short spurts until everything is almost melted. Stir the lip balm until the waxes have fully melted. This method helps prevent super heating your lip balm.

Once everything has melted, add the Vitamin E Acetate and Blackberry Pomegranate Flavor Oil. If you want the finished lip balm to have a pink color, add a little of the Ruby Lip Balm Color. (I ran out of toothpicks so I used the tip of a clean thermometer. I guess I need to create a shopping list!) If you want to see what it looks like, try the plate test!

Thank you for this recipe! I’ve been struggling with subbing Candelilla and Carnauba Waxes for beeswax in my lip balms. Can’t wait to try this! Since I want a bit of “stain” for the lips, I’ll be testing beet root powder for the color. I already have the Pomegranate FO. YUMMY!

      Cee,

Candelilla and Carnauba are both challenging ingredients. I find it is hard to change from using Beeswax all the time. This recipe is a great way to start practicing and becoming familiar with these items.

Let us know how your variation work out for you.

      Best,
      Taylor

Thanks for showing the evolving color. You guys are the best! So much inspiration.

I recently purchased the lip balm colors and am playing with them. I made glossy purple balms (no color transfer to lips) for a Monster High b-day party a couple weeks ago. I used MMS mini lip balm tubes, because 7-yr old girls loooovvvve miniatures.

I am also using the mini-tubes to dispense lotion bars for little chapped cheeks. There are so many ways to use those little lovelies.
