Martha emailed in asking for help formulating a lotion for her skin. She has spent her break spending time with her grandchildren and loving every minute of it! We have made gingerbread houses and demolished them, we have played every card/board game in the house and we have flattened the snow by our boots and sleds. Recipe in Percentages 2% Jewelweed Extract 2% Orchid Extract 3% Emulsifying Wax 1% Stearic Acid 1% Allantoin 1% Aloe Powder 12% Rose Hip Oil, Organic 1.5% Calendula Extract 76% Water 0.5% Liquid Germall Plus |
Weigh everything except the Liquid Germall Plus into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until everything is liquid. Using an immersion blender, mix until emulsified. Allow to cool. Mix every so often during cooling to make sure it doesn’t separate. We will want the mixture to be cooler than 120ºF before we add our preservative. Mix well. Put the lotion into bottles or jars. Enjoy!
If I added scent to this formulation, would I have to adjust anything?
