Reader Challenge: New Gift Kit Combination Ideas Wanted! 21

Help Wanted! I’ve been working on some ideas for new kit combinations using our fantastic bases. I love the ability to use our gift kits when I have an emergency gift I need to make, friends to entertain or even planned out gift baskets for special events like Christmas, birthdays or even just because!

I need your help! I need fresh ideas to pair any of our bases with a fragrance (or flavor) that you think we should put together as a new kit option. I’m open to thoughts and inspiration!

Once I get some ideas from you, I’ll take them to the Graphics Team and we will design some new labels for the kits. If you have any thoughts on that front we would love to hear them!

I am running on a deadline for this project and I will need your ideas by July 25th, 2014. To submit your idea(s), simply tell me in the comments below or use the Contact Us page. Please make sure that your e-mail is correct so I can send a message back to you. We wouldn’t want you to miss out if we choose your idea. You can submit one idea or multiple ideas. No idea is too small! I’ll listen to them all!

Once we have the new kits ready to release, all participants will be among the first to know! If you didn’t enter any ideas, don’t worry. Our loyal blog readers will also get the list of the new kits a few days later. How cool is that?

So, what do you “win” if we choose one of your ideas?

  1. A bundle of virtual hugs!
  2. A really awesome goodie box from the Blog Kitchen.
  3. A special note card from all of us here!

Is your brain already coming up with ideas? If so, yay! We want to hear them! If not, pop on over to the catalog for inspiration. I can’t wait to see what you create!

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

I don’t remember everything already offered in kits, but if you don’t already, Juicy Pear NEEDS to be paired with a lotion or body butter base. It’s crazy amazing and the best and truest pear scent on the market. (I’ve checked!)

I love the new Watermelon lip flavor. Pair that up with some Kalahari Melon fragrance in the Goat Milk Body Cream and Shampoo base and I think my girls and I would be in heaven!!

I would love a Sample kit – 4 oz samples of all the bases – choice of fragrance – similar to the fragrance sample kit. Ditto for the Lip Solutions — enough product & lip balm tubes to make maybe 5 of each?

A Starter Kit for Lotion Making with a recipe and exact measures; and one for CP soap of coconut/palm/olive might also be a good thing.

Well, in furtherance of Rosa’s comment, for kits, I would pair a base, a fragrance, a colorant and enough packaging for the baseI am sure there are plenty of people who would buy a set (for a slight discount) while buying individual items is too daunting. I would go one step further and put together sets using some of the recipes you have presented on this blog. In particular, if you used one of your bases, say the lip solutions, with some other additives, make that a kit with packaging. You can also get ideas from competitors!

Our current kits already come with containers, labels and needed equipment. I will put your set idea on my list! Thanks!

I think offering the bases with some seasonal scent groups would be great. Like for fall you could do Apple Jack, Berries & Twigs, Honey Harvest and Pumpkin Pie. For winter you could do Spiced Fig, Welcome Home, Cranberry and Gingerbread Spice. For spring you could do Green Tea & Cucumber, Juicy Pear, Rain Orchid and Posh Petals. For Summer you could do Summer Melon, Tropical Kiss, Wild Strawberry and Cabana Boys.

How about a chocolate kit? A lip solution and chocolate cream flavor, and a lotion base with chocolate fragrance. It could also contain melt and pour soap to scent with the fragrance.

I would like to see a kit for cold process soaps with a choice of fragrance oil. The customer would have to supply the lye & water, plus have the necessary equipment (like scale, stick blender, mold, etc.).

You recently had a nice soap featured – Caffe Latte Cold Process Soap. You could use that as a kit! You can use the containers you already have in stock (like for Hemp Butter, Lanolin) and you also have the seals to keep it sealed from leakage. So if all the oils are pre-measured for us, then we just have to supply the lye, coffee and coffee grounds. Plus if you could add a coffee-type Fragrance Oil (or even Vanilla? or maybe Chocolate?) plus a print out of the Caffe Latte Cold Process Soap instructions – we’re set to go! This way, we don’t have to buy every single oil/butter just to make that soap!

I really like this idea! wink wink!!

A perfume kit with cyclomethicone and rollarballs. With two or three fragrances. You could have a tween friendly version with cotton candy type fragrances that could be made at a birthday party or given as party favors. Also more adult fragrances for bridal shower type events.

And what about a bath bomb kit.

I think a Citrus Basket kit would be so cool – with enough supplies to make not just one product, but 3 or 4 so that a few (maybe 5) gift baskets could be made…
    My ideas:
Grapefruit EO with glycerin scrub base
Lemon & Lime EO’s with one of the body wash/shower gel bases
    Tangerine EO with Lip Solutions
Orange EO with glycerin soap base and orange peel powder
Clementine EO with Head-to-Toe base or Light Lotions
Shampoo & conditioner bases with any citrus oil

This could also be strictly a bath product basket – scrub/body wash/soap/hair products, etc – to eliminate any photosensitivity issues with the citrus EO’s….
Other scents could be used in combo with these if needed for ‘anchoring’, etc.
I think these scents are wonderful in the winter, but nice & fresh in the summer, too!
