Coffee Oil. This scrumptious oil is new to our catalog and it is simply wonderful. I have never smelled anything that smells so like a small Mom & Pop coffee shop. This oil is very dark in color and I found it begging me to make a lip balm with it. Come join me in the kitchen for the perfect coffee lip balm!
In this recipe, one of the oils I used was Hydrogenated Soybean Oil. Hydrogenated Soybean Oil is very nice in lip balm because it adds a smooth, creamy and almost buttery texture. I feel like a queen when wearing lip products with Hydrogenated Soybean Oil. I also used Argan Oil in this recipe. Argan Oil is high in oleic and linoleic fatty acids. These lend a longer shelf life to the oil as well a deep penetrating properties. A perfect luxury oil to match the Coffee Oil in my opinion! The Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil really rounded out the Coffee Oil and made it more palatable. This lip balm was like a strong cup of coffee. Not an espresso mind you, just a stronger cup of coffee. The next time I make this, I might consider adding some Natural Vanilla Oil or Buttercream Flavor Oil. What would you do?
Recipe:
Weigh all ingredients except the Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil into your microwave safe container. Microwave in short bursts until all ingredients are melted. The beeswax will take the most time to melt, but if you stir the lip balm after the other oils have been heated, it will melt quickly. Once the mixture is melted, add the Sugar Kisses Flavor Oil. Stir until all of the flavor has been incorporated. Fill tubes or jars. Cool. Label.

I saw this first thing this morning and thought “this is exactly what I need!” uh oh…..
Must. . .try. . .this. . .!!
I am a coffee fiend!
I’ve been wondering about using coffee oil in the java juice lip balm with the coffee butter. Do you think that would be too strong? Also, I’ve been wondering if the coffee oil has any caffeine in it.
YUMMY! Can’t wait to try it!
This sounds amazing! I can’t wait to try this.
MMMM!!!! sounds so good! I will have to try this!!!!
ps: use carnauba or candelilla wax instead of beeswax for a vegan-friendly formula, it will probably be about half the amount you would use of beeswax as the veggie waxes are harder…
I think this will be a must-have for winter months when I (or others) need a pick me up!
Looks great!
I bet they smell wonderful!
Oh this looks absolutely decadent! I will definitely have to try this. I don’t drink coffee, but I love the smell of it and I enjoy coffee flavored candy, so I’m sure this will be a hit as well. Cindy
Butter-cream definitely!!! Or maybe some Butterscotch 🙂
So happy to have stumbled upon The Sage! I just recently started using oils to make my own perfume and am expecting my first package from you today; I can’t wait to try them! This sounds so yummy, I think I may have to add lip balm items to my next order…thanks for all the great recipes.
Jodi
I got a little sample in the order I placed the other week, and I keep forgetting to come back and tell you how much I love it! Delicious, and smells great, and of course feels luxurious! Thank you!
I, too, received this as a free sample from this blog project back in 2012. I had
forgotten how great the fragrance was. Am ordering the supplies for it right now.
I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Have fun making this lip balm! It’s one of my favorite recipes!
