I was reading a few news sites and came up with a few things I would like to share. FoxNews had a report of 7 ways to Avoid the Winter Funk. You can read the article for yourself here: 7 Ways to Avoid. I found the report interesting and I would like to add a few points. After reading these items, please comment about what you think should also have been a point in this article. The article points are:
7. Stay hydrated
6. Start reading
5. Find a winter sport
4. Change your diet
3. Get a cool new winter coat
2. Take public transportation or car pool
1. Wake up early
I would like to add the following:
8. Find a network group. – When socializing it is much harder to feel the winter is pulling you down if you can work with a group of people who are laughing, finding ways to be happy and pulling you UP. It is also easier to be happy when you must pretend, pretty soon the pretend flows over and becomes truth. Don’t stay with a group that gossips or pulls you down, you need to hang out with the beautiful people (people who are beautiful in their thoughts, intentions and actions).
9. Do something for others. – I find that doing something for other people, especially those who may not be able to do for themselves at that particular time, is very heartwarming. This boost in feel good endorphins can be long lasting. A helpful site for boosting the day of all people who find your secret notes is Operation Beautiful.
10. What would YOU put here?
If the winter blahs, icks, blues, or funk is in your life, let’s turn it around by being beautiful, giving, healthy, and smart. Please add to this list and we can make it a round of 10 Things to do in the Winter.
Did you know, the Winter Solstice is one of my favorite days of the whole year? It is a turning point for our resting Mother Earth to turn and give us more light in the morning and evening, it is a sign of good things are coming in the future.
Winter Amazing,
10. Make soap! Well, that’s a given for what I like to do any time of the year, but when it’s cold and gloomy outside, what better way to spend your day?
I agree that Winter Solstice is a wonderful turning point knowing lighter months are just around the corner.
That is a great idea! And, we can choose light scents like orange, lemon or lime to really boost our energy and spirits. Grapefruit is another good scent for awakening the senses.
Soak up some natural Vitamin D. I like to get a 15 break for some sunshine (when it is out). Not too much to do damage but enough to help us both physically and mentally. Tea on the patio anyone?
I’ll join you on the patio for a cup of tea. How nice to take a short break and rejuvenate.
I think I’ll be drinking a Blueberry Hibiscus tea. How about you?
Taylor
I was thinking of having some Jasmine tea a friend gave me that she brought back from China when she went to visit. The blueberry hibiscus tea sounds lovely though. Unfortunately still waiting for some sunshine. Think we had about 15 minutes today but I missed it!
