Simply Soothing Lotion Bar Stick 2

I love lotion bars for several reasons. One of my top reasons is that I can easily pop a lotion bar into my luggage and fly anywhere without needing to put it in my liquids bag! Anything to limit my interactions with TSA is always good in my book. (TSA has a lot of good folks, but I’ll admit that if I can zip through the security line, we’re all happy.)

My recent trip to New York and Massachusetts was one of those occasions where having a lotion bar was perfect for my skin. The two flights to New York left my skin feeling dried out and irritated, and then my skin decided to freak out about the humidity levels. This poor Utah gal isn’t used to that much humidity (or rain)!

This lotion bar was initially formulated to use some of the excellent skin lovin’ goodies like Baobab Butter, Turmeric Butter, and Avocado Oil. I added the extracts for some extra skin-soothing oomph, and of course, I had to top off the whole recipe with a scent blend!  The inspiration for that blend came from a customer who emailed, asking for advice of what to blend with Helichrysum.

Making Lotion Bars:

Weigh all the ingredients except the extracts, Vitamin E Natural, and the essential oil blend into a microwave-safe container. Heat in the microwave using short time bursts until everything is melted. Add the extracts, Vitamin E Natural, and the essential oil blend. Stir gently until thoroughly mixed. Pour into containers and allow to cool completely before capping and labeling.

This lotion bar could be packaged in a tube or a tin, or it could be made in silicone molds.

Notes:

I loved how smooth this lotion bar felt without the excessive greasiness that I dislike. When I asked for some feedback, I was told that the lotion bar had a good skin feeling and absorbed into the skin quickly with little massaging required. I was surprised by the most sincere compliments coming from our pickiest tester in the warehouse. You know, that kind of person who doesn’t like greasy feeling skin, but looks like they are related to an alligator? Yeah, this picky person loved this lotion bar so much, I didn’t get to see if anyone else wanted to try it.
