Movember Beard Conditioner 1

Fourth on the list of Things Men Need to Know and Do: Know thy nuts. Simple. Get to know what’s normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn’t feel right. Testicular cancer is a real thing!

Today’s Movember recipe is especially for the guys who have long beards. Just as hair on top of the head benefits from being conditioned, so does the facial hair. My husband’s beard is pretty epic – it hangs halfway down his chest! And boy, does it get tangled when he’s out working in the wind or riding a motorcycle. It can get to looking pretty scraggly, too, and he likes to condition it a few times a week. I notice a big difference on the days he uses conditioner!

This formula has some knockout oils!

Macadamia nut oil adds shine and luster to hair, and it does a fantastic job settling down frizzy hair and preventing tangles.

Rice Bran Oil is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E, and it has a history of being a beauty secret in Japan. It’s also great for skin.

Coconut Oil is a staple ingredient in hair care. It is high in medium-chain fatty acids, and it can often penetrate hair when other oils cannot.

The Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil turns this conditioner the most gorgeous orange sherbet color! Don’t worry – it won’t stain your beard or skin. Seabuckthorn is often touted as an aid to increased hair growth. Keratin is the protein that hair is made of, and proteins are made of amino acids. Because seabuckthorn fruit contains amino acids, it can strengthen hair.

Recipe: The recipe given in grams is my test batch. It filled three of our one-ounce squeezable bottles.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Measure all but the Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil and fragrance into a microwave-safe container. Heat in short time increments, and use a stick blender to mix once the conditioning emulsifier has melted. The mixture will turn creamy. Add the Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil and fragrance, mixing well, and pour into bottles.

I used Sea Salt Fragrance Oil for my batch. I like its clean, fresh scent. After adding it to the mix, I decided it was not quite strong enough, so I added several more drops of the fragrance. It’s always best to begin with a weaker fragrance and need to add a bit more.

With so much water in the recipe, I was happily surprised to see how thick it turned out. The Conditioning Emulsifier did a great job!

Make sure you package this conditioner in a squeezable bottle! I like the Frosted Bullet Style HDPE Bottle with a Disk Top Closure (comes in white, frosted, or black) for easy dispensing. The formula is far too thick for a pump or to pour out. It could also be packaged in a jar, such as our Clear PET Low Profile Jars. I really like that the low profile jars to show off the beautiful color of this conditioner.

My long-bearded spouse gave this a try on his beard. I directed him to use it only on the ends and about halfway up the beard. His skin gets itchy when he uses conditioner all the way up to the roots; besides, it’s the ends of his beard that need conditioning. I liked the soft texture of his beard hair after he conditioned, and after a few days of use, it was even better. The best part was that it did away with the tangles. The scent in the conditioner did not linger in his beard. That was my intent, as he would be using a scented beard balm.

Upon reflection, I probably would omit the scent from this conditioner or omit the scent from the beard balm to avoid any chance of clashing smells. That would be nasty!

This conditioner would also be nice to use on the ends of long hair.
