Thinking about carrots 11

20130207-221801.jpgJerry and I went shopping today to get more vegetables and a whole chicken to make chicken soup. I’ve been fighting the flu and while I have some energy, I still don’t have much. Chicken soup is great because it provides nutrients and fluids that the body needs. Did you know that there is a very important chemical compound found in chicken soup? This compound is called cystine. Cystine is the part that helps break up congestion. How cool! I learned something new today!

During our shopping trip, I found this really big carrot! I had to share the picture with you and ask a question. What should we make with this carrot? Should we make a batch of soap with carrot in it?

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

    Andee

Yes please on the carrots in soap. Some advice and your personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I love the carrot soap recipe from your blog! We make it often 🙂 I also make soaps from other veggies and fruits — so much fun to include the organics!

OH Andee! That would be soooo cool! Carrot Soap – and throw some ground up oatmeal into it, oh and maybe some honey?

Now, I have to tell you, I did make a Carrot Soap once, but I used baby food carrots in place of some of my water….I used 2 jars – the soap burned my hands off!! Not good! And I was so careful too! I was really disappointed.

Hope you have better luck than I did! I would really like to see your formula with carrots!

Feel better Andee, that crud lasts forever, I swear! Been there already…

Agree, carrot soap. Big carrots are sometimes not as tender and tasty as the smaller one. Sure hope you feel better soon.

I would shred that big ole carrot, infuse it olive oil, and make carrot oil out of it… add a little carrot seed EO… wonderful for face & skin care products for mature skin… and very pricey to buy on line.

For sure use it for soap. I have been wanting to make a carrot soap so I could use the pointers 🙂
