Quick Gifts from Your Cupboard! (We Want You!) 20

I have a fun announcement for you! Since Christmas is JUST around the corner, we are going to help you make fast gifts using items you have on hand! Starting today, we will take submissions of ingredients in your cupboard (or that you are ordering before December 16th) and the items you want to make. This will allow you to get your orders in for last minute ingredients and get custom help making last minute Christmas gifts that appear to be anything BUT last minute!

Using either the comments or the Contact Us form, send us a list of the ingredients you have on hand (or coming in your next order). Tell us what you want to make. (ex: a facial lotion, foot cream, cuticle cream, soap, scrubs) Upon receiving your requests, we will start formulating recipes and then share it on the blog during the week of December 17th! If we have lots of requests from you, then we will even post multiple times a day to get all of your Christmas gifts done!

Don’t delay! The sooner we have your ingredients list, the sooner we can get recipes formulated for your cupboard!

About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

I have rice bran oil, mango butter, meadowfoam oil, seabuckthorne oil; calendula, mallow, and nettle extracts; optiphen plus, ewax, stearic acid, small amount of beeswax. I’d love some kind of thin hand lotion that I can put into a squeeze bottle for carrying in the purse. Something people could put on before they put on gloves but not take a long time to soak in.

I have a pretty good collection of oils and butters – and LOTS of fresh goats milk. Is it possible to make a fresh goat’s milk lotion? Paraben free? I have germall which is paraben free, right? We have made soap and all kinds of wonderful things with our goat’s milk. Would love to make a lotion as well 🙂

      Andrea,
Since goat’s milk is one of those ingredients that has a fast cycle of what we call God’s plan (Life, death, compost), the decomposition of the goat’s milk can cause many concerns about proper preservation. This is one lotion that due to the use of milk, I am more comfortable leaving in the hands of laboratory professionals who have a variety of preservatives available. Most commercial lotions that contain milk actually contain either milk proteins or milk fats, not 100% milk. I would recommend keeping your goat’s milk for soaps and maybe even trying out some cheesemaking if you have extra. I love homemade cheese and I promise that it isn’t that hard! The folks over at cheesemaking.com are really helpful!
I wish I could give you an answer that was a formula, but I also want you to be a safe and savy cosmetics/soap maker.
      Best!
      Andee

My cupboard definitely isn’t empty, but I’m kind of stumped on a couple of recipes that I would love help with! I am looking for a good cleanser and moisturizer for acne prone skin. My daughter is headed to college in Eastern Idaho……very cold and very DRY! So I especially need a facial moisturizer that will not cause break-outs, but that will keep in the moisture, and a cleanser would be a plus! I have all the standard oils, olive, apricot kernel, peach kernel, avocado, castor, jojoba, shea butter, avocado butter, pistachio butter, mango and cocoa butters. I also have some specialty oils, pumpkin seed, cherry seed, black cumin, hemp, hazelnut, neem, probably some others that I can’t think of! I have several kinds of preservatives, and quite a few essential oils that are for acne. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Almost forgot…we can’t use lanolin, and I do have stearic acid, emulsifying wax, beeswax, & BTMS. Also have quite a few extracts….

I’d love a light, and thin face moisturizer. I don’t like things thick or sticky on my face. Currently I have aloe extract, high melt point shea, deodorized cocoa butter, apricot kernal oil, calendula oil, argan oil, candelilla wax, veggie emulsifier, Vitamin e oil, vitamin c oil, and avacado oil. I’m not vegan, but I’m trying to keep what I use on my body vegan.
