Flavor Friday! 6

Two weeks from now I am going to do a full week of making lip balm. After all, summer is coming and summer is lip balm season. Yes, lip balm is used all year long but we generally see a spike in the demand for lip balm and flavor oils in the summer. I wanted to share some of my favorite favors. Come join me as we explore the flavor section of our catalog!

Now, you should be aware that I am a huge fan of blending my own flavors and my favorites are flavor oils that can stand alone and blend beautifully. Keep that in mind as we explore what flavor oils I consider to be staples in my lip balm drawer, this list would make a great Sampler 7!

One of my favorite flavors is our Champagne Flavor Oil. This is nice, slightly sweet and is almost bubbly on the lips. This is also a great blending flavor. I did a Strawberries and Champagne Lip Soother and boy was that good!  You could blend with other fruit flavors and you would have some great combinations on hand.

My next favorite flavor is Peach. I really like our Peach Flavor Oil. It tastes like fresh, sweet, fuzzy peaches. There is a small city about thirty minutes away called Brigham City, home to the famous Utah Fruit Highway. During harvest times this scenic highway has stands on the sides of the roads selling the fresh produce from the area. I love it when peaches are in season. I will drive and pick up an entire box of peaches. Our Peach Flavor Oil reminds me of doing picking up those fresh peaches, no matter the season. Blend this with Orange Butter in a lip balm for a Fuzzy Navel!

Another favorite of mine is a newer flavor to our catalog. Yep, Blackberry Pomegranate Flavor Oil. I had been begging our research and development team to add it to our catalog for weeks prior to it ever being released. Before they would release the flavor to the catalog, they wanted to get a feel for what our customers thought of this flavor oil. When we released samples of this flavor oil to try I was waiting anxiously for the response of our customers. The feedback was overwhelming. People loved this fruity blend! I was so relieved that this flavor was going to be added to the catalog.

Pineapple Flavor Oil. Wow, this flavor is really good. I am a HUGE fan of pineapple. When I was a kid I would eat enough raw pineapple that the enzymes would make my mouth raw. With this flavor oil I can get that fresh pineapple taste without the rawness. If you are a fan of pineapple, or know someone who is, this is the flavor for you. Don’t miss out on this exquisite flavor.

Let’s move on to our Sugar Baby Flavor Oil. I love this sweetener. While I like both of our sweeteners, this one calls to me more. It is smoother without some of the nuances that the Sugar Kisses has. A sweetener can make a flavor pop more or make it more palatable for many picky lip balm connoisseurs. 😉 This is one I consider a must in my drawer.

Another oil I love to have on my shelf is our Coconut Flavor Oil. I love to make lip balms pairing this flavor oil with the Virgin Coconut Oil and a sweetener. Wow! Talk about having a wonderful lip treat! I have known many people who are from Hawaii and they swear that this Coconut Flavor Oil is the real thing. This flavor oil does great on its own but it also makes a great blender.

The last flavor oil I wanted to talk about today is our Coffee Flavor Oil. Sometimes I really need my Java fix but don’t have time to run to a coffee shop. So what do I do when I am in a pinch? I use a lip balm with our Coffee Flavor Oil! If I really want that coffee flavor I like to use Coffee Butter and our Coffee Flavor Oil. Talk about good stuff there!

If you had the seven flavor oils on your shelf, what would you make? Do you see a blend calling to you from these flavor oils? Tell me! I want to know!

    1. Pineapple — I like pineapple too! How’s about Pina Colada = pineapple + coconut?
    2. Vanilla Banilla — good alone and also, Creamsicle = Orange EO + Vanilla Banilla?
    3. Root Beer — blend with ? for Root Beer Float? Would Vanilla Banilla or Butter Cream be better?
    4. Pomagranate for the holidays. + Orange or Black Cherry?
    5. Butterscotch — blend with Chocolate for Heath Bar?
    6. Vanilla Banilla — + Peppermint EO = Candy Cane for the holidays
    7. Pink Grapefruit EO is my hands down favorite! + Tangerine & Lemon EO Sounds good to me!

I’ve used the Pineapple and Coconut flavor oils together to make a Pina Colada flavored lip balm, turned out yummy!
I’ve also used the Rootbeer and Butterscotch MMS flavors together, that turned out awesome in a lip balm!

Hi Mollie, did you use more of one and less of the other? or 50/50 of each?
For “Creamsicle” I use 7 parts orange EO and 3 parts vanilla. Yummy and a best seller for me. ;-D
