I have started a new area on our blog.TheSage.com site where we will focus on our communities and improvement. This category is called Community Pursuits. I would like to encourage dialog with all our readers on the site blog.TheSage.com even though this blog gets reposted on Facebook and other sites. Having access to all the comments our readers have shared is important for ongoing creative thought. This category will be used about once a week and will focus on community improvement, relationship improvement and amazing happenings around the globe. If you want to share something, please send me a message through our Contact Us page and select Blog Team – Community Pursuits.
Last week I came across a site called DonorsChoose.org while trying to find a home for various supplies that are too good to throw away. The concept was reduce our surroundings, offer goods for reuse and recycle what was left. While DonorsChoose.org does not take in-kind gifts, I did find some special projects going on right in our back yard. Should I say front yard? Thomas Edison Charter School South Campus is located down our private lane and across the street. I can see it from our front door. On the DonorsChoose.org site I ran across this school posting a need for donors to help kids learn about space education. See the project here: Space Education Project.
Anyone can use DonorsChoose.org and I would like to ask our readers to donate a few dollars to this space education program and review the rest of the projects needing funding on DonorsChoose.org. I don’t know the teacher in this project, nor do I know anyone who attends Thomas Edison Charter School (South or North campuses). Would you readers look for schools in your area and find a project or two that needs assistance? Please post your comments on this blog with a link to the project you are choosing to help fund. As a group I think we can satisfy funding on several projects around the US. I am offering $50 each to the next ten projects that our readers will share. Remember, you must post on blog.TheSage.com to be counted AND when you find a project to donate to, include in the description of your donation why you chose that project and that you want TheSage.com to give too. I will post in the comments of this post what projects we have given too and I will have Andee send messages on Twitter. I’m thinking it is possible to give these funds away today! What do you think?
Check it out! I think 10 projects around the country which get our attention will be many teachers and children that are benefiting.
Let me know your comments.
DonorsChoose.org,
Please check out my project!

I’m trying to engage all readers, including ones that are hesitant to read. Thank you so much for supporting teachers!
I am a fourth grade teacher in Middletown, CT with two projects on DonorsChoose.org. One is for more technology in my classroom and the other is for more book series, because my students love reading several books in a row with the same characters. Please support my projects if you can! Thank you!!! Here is the link to my page:

Tina, thank you so much for supporting our classroom. My students work hard every day to build reading skills so that they will be successful in high school. Your gift, and that of many other DonorsChoose donors, makes our work easier. Thank you, thank you! Chris
Dachsil, You are the second to post! I have already donated $ 50 to this project. Thanks for showing us! Reading and speech are required in school and beyond.
ChrisLivingstone, You are the 3rd to post! I have already donated $ 50 to this project. I fondly remember teaching my kids to read. We had Moo Charts and each chart that was filled in received Malted Milk Balls from the teacher and the kids bowed with extended arms and chanted “Moo for you! Moo for you!” It was a riot to watch.
SecondGrade, You are the 4th to post! I have already donated $ 50 to this project. Math and Literacy are critical to making soap. I hope your students really enjoy this addition to your classroom.
PositivYogi, You are the 5th to post! I have already donated $ 50 to the whiteboard project. I’ve never seen one of those. I had to check it out further. Check out all the projects that we have helped fund this far: http://www.donorschoose.org/TheSage.com

Tina,
Thank you so very much for supporting us! We do with as little as possible from our budgets, but donors choose gives wonderful people like you the opportunity to support our classrooms. Thank you!!!
TerryLynn22, Right now we are working on the DonorsChoose.org site. This site is for teachers who ask for help, donors get to choose what they want to give (even $1 helps) and the students and school benefits. If you would like to send me some info about the pet non-profit, please use the Contact Us page and send it to my part of this blog. I am a sucker for kids and pets.
Tina

Hey, I’m in Utah and a DonorsChoose teacher. I would love your support and I’m excited to see a Utah company helping out. My website is http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=487732&challengeid=37274
Dear Tina,
Thank you so much for your donation toward a laptop computer for our second grade classroom. My students and I were so excited when we checked our project and saw that it was now below $600! My students use computers to create artwork, practice skills, listen to books and write letters to their epals in Australia. Since our school is so huge, it is difficult to get into our computer labs to complete our projects. Luckily donors like you are helping us get computers in our own classroom. Donorschoose is a fantastic website dedicated to matching donors with classroom projects all over the United states. We feel very fortunate that you made a donation toward our project. We still have quite a ways to go, but hopefully others will feel as strongly as you do about providing students with computers in their classroom. Thanks again for helping teachers all over the country.
