About Andee

Director of Happiness. I'm a thirty-something soap snob. I've grown up with handmade soaps, and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps, and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won't tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

Thanks for doing this comparison, Andee. I’ve used the sodium lactate in lotion and quite like it. I have not tried the hydrovance yet, but would love to. (Hint, hint — I’m putting an order in now… 😉

I just received a sample of the lotion with hydrovance — it feels WON-DER-FUL! It feels silky and elegant and sinks right in. And I really like the Polynesian Red fragrance. Hard to describe that scent — reminds me of pomegranate? Maybe? Thank you so much!

Pomegranate is the prominent note in the Polynesian Red. I’ve found this fragrance to be a fantastic unisex fragrance. Teen boys don’t care for it as much, but when they are in there early twenties, they start to enjoy it. My mom and dad both love this fragrance, so I made a bar soap for them with the Polynesian Red.

I’m glad you like the lotion!

    Hi all,

I received both samples and I have to say they both make my skin soft, but it seems like the sodium lactate brings more moisture and goes deeper into my skin then the other. Also I absoulety love the fragrance. Can you make a purfume with the Polynesian Red fragrance?

    Love it,

    Jaime

I got my perfumers kit today- thank you SO much Andee and Sage team, its like Christmas day! I cant wait to start playing around with it, creating custom blends. EVERYONE should enter this contest, it really is such an amazing prize and you guys are so generous to do this for your customers.
Jamie- the glass ball rollers from MMS are great for perfume oils, I make them using Golden Jojoba as the carrier, and with MMS scents you need less than 10%, in fact for some thats too much!

PS on Hydrovance.. I got some last time I was up there and hadnt had a chance to try it yet, so I ran my own experiment this weekened too- I made my regular lotion with glycerin, and one with hydrovance.. there was no comparison, the hydrovance lasted longer and felt silkier and it felt like it “sunk in”. I’m a believer. I havent used Sodium Lactate, but I’ll have to try that now too, lol. Next order I guess 🙂
