| Yesterday I told you of my love for ginger. I decided I wanted to make a triple ginger soap. In my mind you can never have to much ginger. In this soap I used our Ginger Fragrance Oil, ground ginger, and fresh ginger! Even if you are not part of the ginger fan club, this soap is fun and exotic!Whenever I go to Salt Lake City, I visit the London Market. I replenish my stocks of marzipan, parma-violets, elderflower soda, chocolates and preserves. Note: I am not from the United Kingdom, just a HUGE fan of exotic foods. However, no matter how much I have at home, I always get crystalized ginger, ginger preserves and spicy ginger beer sodas. I am definitely part of of the ginger fan club. 😉
I don’t know how many of you have been to a sushi restaurant but when I first went I was introduced to pickled ginger. Our Korean friends were explaining all of the sauces. Once I learned it was ginger, I picked up a a large slice, paired it with a california roll and chowed down. Our friends eyes became large as saucers and they scrambled to get me a drink. Knowing me, I am sure you can guess what I did next. You got it! I went back for another. Come join me for this spicy ginger soap! Collect Needed Items:
Recipe:
Weigh all of the oils into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until liquid. Add the lye to the water to for a lye solution. Mix the oils and lye solution and blend until a light trace is achieved. Add the Ginger Fragrance Oil, minced ginger and ground ginger and mix well. Pour into a mold and allow to sit for 24 hours. Cut the soap. Allow the soap to cure. Longer curing time will result in a harder bar. Enjoy!

That sounds soooooo yummy…going to have to try it…how did it smell, when you cut it?, I’m sure it was devine!!!

It IS yummy! It smelled almost like a ginger spice cookie, sans the cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. It is surprisingly sweet with a spicy biting kick afterwards. If you want, I can hold a sample to send to you in your next order. I’ll keep it on my desk and try to resist using it. 😉

Taylor, your soap inspired me to make my own, I am warming oils as we speak, lye is cooling outside, I added some silk fibers too!!!…I’ll let you know how it goes!

Does the smell of the ginger last for long if the soap remains unused for sometime
I had a bar that sat on the shelf for over a year. While the scent did eventually fade, it was strong for several months.
