This soap is the last soap I have to share from our recent “My Favorite Recipe to Share” soap swap on The Sage Forum. I’ve been very impressed by all the talent these soapmakers possess and I hope their work has been as inspiring for you as it has been for me.
When I first unwrapped Catherine’s soap, I was surprised by her soap color swirl. I have to admit that this soap looks pretty complicated, but I’m sure it was a lot easier than it looks! This soap smells like a berry patch from Utah took a trip to the tropics as the scent is mostly berry with a little bit of mango thrown in. Her cigar bands are also super cute! Glittery paper and even tied with a ribbon! Wow!
Catherine’s Recipe:
15 oz Palm Oil
6 oz Palm Kernel Oil
15 oz Macadamia Nut Oil
6 oz Sweet Almond Oil
6 oz Coconut Oil
6.63 oz Sodium Hydroxide
12 oz Water
3 oz Coconut Oil
Enjoy!
This looks wonderful! Where does the scent and color come from though?
Sorry, I’m a novice!
Amy
The scent and color are something that is done on desire at the time of making the soap.
The forum is the best place to watch what is done for these swaps. More is discussed and
you can join in on the swaps. The swaps are a great place to learn and get help.
Cheers!

I cannot see how to make the coconut cream soap. I need to try to do.
Follow the procedure of any of our soaps and you will be fine.

What is the difference between palm oil ans palm kernel,,,what can we substitute and what r the benefits of palm products
There are a few acceptable replacements for both oils. Palm and Palm Kernel Oils are from the fruits from the oil palm trees (Elaeis Guineensis or African Oil Palm).
Palm Oil comes from the flesh of the palm fruit. We primarily use Palm Oil as a filler oil in soaps and another alternative would be Hydrogenated Soybean Oil.
Palm Kernel Oil comes from the kernel (nut) at the center of the palm fruit. We use Palm Kernel Oil for the hardness and lather that it contributes to soap. Another alternative for Palm Kernel Oil would be Coconut Oil.
