Father’s Day!

Monday, June 9th, 2014
Father’s Day is this Sunday and that means it is fast approaching. Ack! Do you have gifts planned out or are you like me and stunned the holiday snuck up on you? Well, I am officially in panic mode. I though it would be good to go back through the archives and find some spectacular (and astonishingly simple) recipes that save time and face.

Here is a collection of things I will make for my father this coming Father’s Day.

Men’s Aftershave Cream
I recommend this recipe in particular for razor shavers. While razor shavers tend to get a closer shaver, this also means that the delicate skin on their face needs a little extra tender loving care. If you do choose to use Peppermint Essential Oil, keep the usage rate very low. It is better to do an unscented cream than to have a man howling in pain and washing the cream off as fast as he can.

Chocolate Bacon Lip Balm
Now I know that to many of us the combination of chocolate and bacon is stranger than words. It gathers a variety of reactions from distrust to revulsion to absolute adoration. While there may not be a crazier combination in the world of flavors, it has a very loyal following. Within my own circle of friends, every time I make a product containing the Chocolate Bacon Flavor Oil it disappears within 48 hours even faster if the dog has any say in it. Make one for dad this Father’s Day and watch the requests for it roll in.

Mountain Man Cream
This cream is extremely thick but it has a slick, wet feeling to it. I highly recommend this recipe for dry feet, elbows and knees. I also recommend putting it into a wide mouth jar for easy access. It is very thick and stiff but well worth it once rubbed into the skin.

Shower Tablets
Shower tablets are fantastic because they scent the shower, clear sinuses and are extremely easy to use. You can add higher percentages of things like peppermint, eucalyptus or any other scent that is a favorite of dad’s. These may become his favorite all year long!

Red, White and Blue Swirl Soap
I wanted to include a pretty swirled soap for my father. I have quickly discovered my father doesn’t like sparkle but he does like color. He likes that the soap screams to be picked up in the mono-tone cream colored shower. What colors would encourage liberal usage by the man in your life?

What are some of the things you might make for your father?

The Lantern Festival

Friday, February 14th, 2014
Today is the Lantern Festival, the last day of the Chinese New Year. On this day you can see lanterns of all shapes, sizes and colors. You can even light a flying lantern and send it up into the night sky. I love this festival because the sky is full of lights which drift slowly through the air. I love to watch the river of lights high above me, slowly flowing around all of those impressive skyscrapers. It is an impressive and peaceful sight.

During the Lantern Festival people also eat a special dessert, a sweet soup that has small, colorful balls. The balls are made of glutinous rice flour and have a variety of delicious fillings. These are eaten because their name sounds similar to reunion and the Chinese consider family and friends to be very important.

Today is also the last day for you to submit any products inspired by the Chinese New Year. Hurry! All participants will get a chance to receive a goodie box from the Blog Kitchen. Thanks for participating!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Friday, January 31st, 2014
I am thrilled to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year! Today is the start of a 15 day long celebration here in China. Isn’t that amazing? The Chinese New Year is a collection of several daily celebrations that accumulate into what we know as the Chinese New Year. Now before you ask,  people rarely get all 15 days off of work but they do get some of the bigger celebration days off. Most of the time people get the first seven days off. Today will be a day filled of jovial street dances, wonderful performances and knee-slapping theater.

This year is the Year of the Horse. Were any of you born in the Year of the Horse? If you were born in the Year of the Horse this next year is said to bring fortune and auspicious changes to your career. For those who were not born in the Year of the Horse, not to worry, this is a good year for prosperity as well as great travel experiences.

In the evening, we enjoy a feast, special desserts and fireworks! I am so excited! The fireworks in China are so incredibly loud. It is so fun! What will you do for the Chinese New Year? Does this festival inspire any products or colors? I want to know!

During the next 15 days, we will accept submissions of products inspired by the Chinese New Year. All submissions will be displayed on our blog and each submitter has a chance at a special goodie box from the Blog Kitchen. Good luck!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Monday, January 20th, 2014

Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday observed on the third Monday in January. In 2014, it falls on Jan. 20. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, also known as Civil Rights Day, is a very special and important day.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’”

This encourages each and everyone of us across this nation to come together and to serve our neighbors and communities. The MLK Day of Service is part of the United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative. All Americans are asked to work together and provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.

As today is Civil Rights Day, there are some important announcements that need to be made. Today, the Post Office is closed. No orders will ship if they have been ordered using this method. If you are waiting for an order through USPS, they will not deliver today. Check your mail box tomorrow! UPS is open today and we will ship all orders that use a UPS shipping method and UPS is making deliveries today.

Thank you and what ever activity you choose to do today, have a wonderful day!

Pie Day! Wednesday Before Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

Today is the day before Thanksgiving so we are here working until noon – processing your orders.

Any order received by 7:00 am MST will be shipped out today!

Be sure to select Next Day Air if you want your order delivered by Friday.

We sure work fast around here; that’s because we are reserving our afternoon to prepare for tomorrow! Thanksgiving! One of my favorite things to do (besides eating pies) is to make pies for this fabulous turkey day. What are some of your favorite items to prepare or eat on Thanksgiving?

I would like to share with you one of MMS delicious pie recipes, it is a recipe for Blackberry Pie! Yummy! This recipe was presented by Andee back in 2009. Click on the link or do a quick search for blackberry pie on blog.thesage.com to see the complete directions and how beautiful this pie looks. I need to ask Andee to help me with my pie edges. Hers came out perfect! Andee says “the resulting crust is out of this WORLD!” This crust may be prepared up to two day in advanced, what a convenient way to prepare for Pie Day!

I will see you back here on Black Friday where I will show you a fantastic way to use some of those turkey leftovers. So make sure you have some mild cheeses on hand; such as mozzarella or provolone, and of course turkey! I know that many of you will be out shopping on this crazy shopping day. There are some great deals to take advantage of, so I will demonstrate a quick and easy Grilled Cheese and Turkey Sandwich that will definitely keep your energy levels up for all the shopping activities on Black Friday! I might even have an extra surprise waiting for you. See you then!

Fourth of July!

Thursday, July 4th, 2013
Today is the Fourth of July! Whoot! Today is a day of food, fun and fireworks! I love all of the light shows that are put together by the various cities. I could watch fireworks all night! The colors are spectacular! I am particularly fond of the purple and gold colors. What is your favorite part/ tradition for the Fourth of July?

While you, your friends and family enjoy this wonderful celebration, please know that the MMS team is thinking of you and your safety. We hope that you have a great time with no injuries, fires or other scares. Take care and have a wonderful time!

Please note: Due to the fact that the Fourth of July is a federal holiday, UPS, the Post Office and Majestic Mountain Sage are all closed so that we may spend the day with our families. We will be back tomorrow and will process any orders that come in during that time. If you have questions with making products, please email our Technical Support Staff. They will respond to all queries as quickly as they can. In the mean time, be safe and have a wonderful holiday!

Father’s Day

Sunday, June 16th, 2013
It is Father’s Day! I love Father’s Day. I often get to spend time with my Dad and tell him how great he is. Father’s Day reminds me of when I was a little girl. I remember climbing into his lap and once I got settled (and stopped wiggling and wriggling) we would read a book together. I will always remember the feeling of a book propped up in my lap while I leaned against his chest. The rumbling and roaring of villains, dragons and trolls would cause my Dad’s chest to shake while knights defended lands or perhaps a damsel in distress. My Dad would create voices for all of the characters. I love those memories. What special things would you do with your dad when you were little?

This Father’s Day, I am an ocean away but I will be taking some time to chat with him. I am excited to talk with him and do a virtual toast this year. Whether near or far, I hope you get some time with your father. Cheers!

Flag Day!

Friday, June 14th, 2013
It is Flag Day today! Wow! For me, Flag Day is amazing. I see flags line the streets and stickers decorating shop windows. I remember, as a little girl, Flag Day seemed to kick off all of the summer celebrations. Flag Day has always meant that fireworks, picnics and days at the pool were within reach instead of the tantalizing memories that they were at the start of spring. What do you remember about Flag Day when you were a kid?

We, here at Majestic Mountain Sage, would like to wish all of our readers a wonderful Flag Day! However you or your city celebrate, have a great time and be safe!

Memorial Day

Monday, May 27th, 2013

USA_Flag

I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable Memorial Day. To me Memorial Day is a day to remember all the American men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. This is a day for many to gather with family and friends to visit cemeteries and memorials; to honor all whom have passed. On behalf of everyone at MMS, I would like to wish everyone a well, happy, and thoughtful Remembrance Day.

This day also marks the start of the summer vacation season and many enjoy gathering with their loved ones to enjoy a great BBQ and many outdoor activites. This week MMS would like to share a few of our family-favorite summer recipes. So, check back all week and maybe you would like to join in and share your favorite summer foods too.

We are closed today but we will be back tomorrow to get your orders out the door.

Enjoy your Memorial Day! Be safe and be well!
