Lazy Days of Summer Lotion Bar

I love nothing more than a sunny day, and lounge chair and the sound of sprinklers running in the background. While I still get beautifully sunny days, a lounge chair are the sound of sprinklers are tough to find here in Beijing. I manage by sitting on a park bench and listening to the birds instead. I wanted to make a lotion bar for the lazy days of summer that demand you spend time outside dozing. Will you come join me for such a lovely afternoon?

First I started with Beeswax. Beeswax makes the lotion bar firm and long lasting on the skin. It gives a wonderful drag to the product making you want to spend all day just slowly rubbing it into the skin.

Second I used Coconut Oil. I actually used Virgin Coconut Oil. Virgin Coconut Oil has the most wonderful smell and it makes me think of summer. It also melts at skin temperature making it a wonderful oil to have in a lotion bar. It gives it wonderful glide when being applied to the skin, even in winter!

Next, I used Shea Butter. Now, Shea Butter has long been recognized as Queen in the world of exotic butters. If you have ever worked with Shea Butter, you know why! It is smooth and creamy and it leaves the skin feeling softer and more supple than ever before.

I also used Cocoa Butter. Cocoa Butter is truly exquisite. I mean, is there any other butter that is brittle but melts smoothly and smells like chocolate? Nope! It is one of a kind! And in this formulation you get the soft odor of chocolate and coconut. What could be better?!

Next I used Sunflower Oil. Sunflower is a delightfully light, soft and smooth. I can’t believe I just described an oil like that, but it is true! Sunflower Oil is also high in oleic acids which means it has a longer shelf life. Isn’t that wonderful news?

Finally, I used Apricot Kernel Oil. Apricot Kernel Oil is both light in color and in texture. Perfect for hot summer days because it is light enough to keep evaporation to a minimum while still letting the skin breathe. Isn’t that perfect?! Let’s go make a lotion bar!
