You can use your hands to apply it. I think it would be gentle enough on your face as long as you do not scrub hard. Personally, I think I would rather use a mask or soap gel rather than a sugar or salt scrub. You might want to use a finer grain sugar if you want to use it on your face.

Re: the scrub, how would you recommend using it, just scoop it out and scrub it on with your hands?  Would it be gentle enough to use on your face?
