Recipe Section Update and Other Notes of Importance 4

brilliantOur recipes section is finally getting an update of all the recipes that I’ve included in the blog since the blog started! You can now find the recipes that were made on the blog in the recipes section. I’ve been working hard on transferring the recipes and they will be released within the next couple of days!

As you may know, I love to challenge my readers. Let me know what your favorite recipes are and why they are your favorite recipes. It doesn’t matter what kind of recipe, because I would love to see everybody’s different talents and abilities.

I have a quick little note about something I discovered today! Remember the Blooming Bath Oils? I’ve come up with a way to color them and I will show you how to do that tomorrow! Isn’t that a great project to look forward to?

I was requested to share different uses for Hemp Butter after I had the Random Hemp Butter Drawing. You can use Hemp Butter in any recipe that contains a fixed oil butter. Good butters to replace with Hemp Butter are: Almond Butter, Aloe Butter, Avocado Butter, Coffee Butter, Macadamia Butter, Mango Oil, Mango Butter, Olive Butter, Shea Butter (Refined or Unrefined), or Soybean Oil. Find your testing notebook and write down your thoughts. Each oil has it’s own characteristics, so find the oils you want to use!

I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

About Andee

I’m a twenty something soap snob. I’ve grown up with hand made soaps and I love them! I really like making lotions, soaps and perfumes. I adore mixing scents to come up with something new. My favorite scent is either Wicked or Cotton Candy. I tend to hoard fragrances, I even have an Earl Grey Tea from the MMS catalog. I won’t tell you how old it is, but it sure is good!

    Andee,

I read your blog this morning and I have been waiting for a question like this to praise your Bountiful Butters recipe. It not only lathers fantastically but it is so rich and smooth. I also love using all of those butters and oils in one recipe it makes it all the better. Great recipe for those who live in the hot desert of Saint George.

Thanks so much for sharing all of your wonderful recipes,
    Catherine

First blog, don’t even know if I am doing it correctly, couldn’t find any info on it on the site. I am looking for a recipe for lotion using goat milk soap. Also, is anyone still using grapefruit seed extract for preservative? Thanks for any information and your patience.

      dangergirl-
I’m guessing you are asking about making a lotion using goat milk. Unfortunately, milk is very difficult to preserve alone and preserving a lotion with milk in it is just as hard. We recommend using milk proteins to make a milk lotion rather than adding milk.

Grapefruit Seed Extract is not a preservative. It is a antioxidant. Grapefruit Seed Extract helps prevent the oxidation of your product. A preservative helps prevent yeast, mold and bacteria from growing.
